Join us in our critical mission of developing Italian language studies and reinstating the AP Italian Language and Culture program.

Italian language studies programs serve thousands of students each year as they learn the beautiful Italian language and appreciate the rich culture, history, and contemporary life of Italy, one of the great nations of the Western world.

In November 2010, working with the Republic of Italy, the College Board, and Italian language advocates in Italy and the United States, the ILF succeeded in clearing the way for AP Italian to be reinstated in the fall of 2011.

The reinstatement was a major victory, but, simply put, our work has just begun.

The demand for Italian language and culture studies is strong. As reported by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, in its Foreign Language Student 2007 Post-Secondary Planning Survey®, more students reported that they would choose to study Italian than any other foreign language.

Yet the cost of creating a thriving AP Italian program may involve millions of dollars until the time that it becomes self-sustaining through an enriched infrastructure, teacher training, and increased student participation. Creating the infrastructure and support necessary will be possible through the work of thousands of volunteers across the country and around the world. And it will be possible through the generosity of people like you.

We have launched our new membership opportunity that invites students of Italian, teachers of Italian and donors to contribute to the Italian Language Foundation and to become available to the many benefits involving Italian language education, such as scholarships for students, trips to Italy and professional development workshops in Italy and the United States.

Please help us now and take advantage of these extraordinary opportunities. Your membership and donation will help us to continue the promotion and growth of the Italian language in the United States.

The Italian Language Foundation is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit corporation and all donations are tax deductible.
